I cannot get the hood latch to release on my 95 bronco?

my lever inside the truck doesn't seem to be doing what it used to when i would pull it to release the hood so i could open it. Im not very mechanically inclined.. i need help. i need a jump and i cant get the damn hood open...anybody have any ideas???
