Unresponsive ipod touch screen.?

I have an 32GB ipod touch 3G. I got it xmas 2009 and the screen dosent work anymore. I can use the on/off on on the top, the volume, and the home on but the screen wont work at all. i cant slide to unlock it. i can double tap home to bring up a music play menu, but i cant tap the play on. ive tried rebooting it on/off and home, but nope. still dont work. can anyone help me? i dont want to send it off again. im on my third (the first 2 were accelerometer issues). and im tired of getting dan ellis'd. explain that too
